The very first choice you should make when selecting a pressure washer is whether you want to go for an electric pressure washer or a gas pressure washer. There are in fact many factors that will go into your decision. Electric powered washers are smaller, quieter, and much more easier to move around and generally require less maintenance.
Gas powered washers, on the other hand, are going to be much more powerful and much more costly – but are more powerful. If you plan to use your pressure washer for small tasks such as, washing your car, cleaning patio furniture or cleaning your deck, then an electric power washer will be just fine. However, if you plan to clean roofing, strip paint or clean are to remove stains from your driveway, then you will want the extra power of a gas pressure cleaner.
One of the main stats for a washer is its PSI or how powerful of a spray it will have. Do not get caught up in this number unless you are going to be doing some serious cleaning with your power washer. For example, some power washers have over 3,000 PSI which sounds great but if you plan to use it to wash your car it will actually be too powerful. It may actually strip the paint right off your car!
If you plan to use your power washer for lights tasks I would suggest that you purchase an electric pressure washer as it will have plenty of power and which be much cheaper and easier to maintain then a gas powered washer. However, if you plan to tackle tougher tasks then you may be better suited to buy a gas power washer to make sure it can handle the tasks you plan on doing.
